C&S GROCERS

C&S is an industry leader in supply chain solutions and wholesale grocery supply in the United States. Founded in 1918 as a supplier to independent grocery stores, C&S supplies more than 7,500 retailers with over 100,000 different products. When C&S Wholesale Grocers noticed ice buildup in the roof insulation, exterior insulated metal panels and the joints between thermal materials, they selected Birch to solve their challenge. A commercial freezer, constructed in the 1970s, caused 105’ of an exterior wall panel to push away from the structure.

When we began, the insulated panel wall was no longer connected at the roof or mid-girt line and the base of the insulated wall panel was almost completely off the foundation. To solve this challenge, Birch worked with the engineering firm to establish temporary shoring of the insulated metal panel walls so construction could begin. We then installed freezer wall panels, roofing and modified the structure on an accelerated schedule to minimize impact on operations.
